I have been in San Antonio for work for the past 2 weeks. With breakfast covered, I was able to try many of the local restaurants with my $40 per diem. This is by far the best restaurant in town. By the 2nd week, I had cut to the chase and made El Mirador the only place I'd go for dinner. Service that makes you feel at home, amazing food at very reasonable prices. I'll dream of this place when I go back to Atlanta (where there is no shortage of food options, by the way).
Super clean restaurant! Friendly staff, very good flavors, and dedicated electric vehicle parking. Margaritas are unique and authentic. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Tex-Mex on par!
I cannot explain the reviews that are anything but 5 stars! I mean wow, the food is fantastic. The salsa is obviously homemade and delicious, same for the queso- duh you say? No, most places use freaking Velveeta! Anyway, it was amazing, and so was the food. Service was great, and the atmosphere and style, quality and furnishings all matched the 5 stars of the food. All in all, you shouldn't pass it up! 5 stars.
Most reviews on this place are positive due to the atmosphere. Clean, friendly, and Spanish with art by Cruz Ortiz. However all this didn't make up for the boring tasting "Mexican" food. Portions can vary per plate (Chile relleno was huge, while Mirador special was terrible.) The Chile relleno with cheese taste more like an Italian plate, the enchiladas aren't spicy at all nor is there salsa. The rice was basic, the beans were spread as if not to waste, and the drinks were pretty small as well.
Solid restaurant. I have been coming here for over 8 years. They had a management change about 3 years ago. Last year they did a full remodel and it's a very nice atmosphere patio and dining room. The food is good depending on what you order. Try to stick to some of the more traditional dishes and you can't go wrong.
Come for the art, not for the food.
So sure you can sit outside, and yeah there's cool art.
