Wow!!! Had a follow up appointment today to fix a pesky drain clog. True to their guarantee, the guys fixed the problem. I offered to pay for the service call, but was told it was part of the original call. And once again the guys were on time, polite, and communicative. We've used this company several times and it seems punctuality and politeness are just a given. Great company!!! Thank you so much!!
The install of the water heater went well, as far as I can tell - $650 to replace a water heater that failed and was covered by warranty, so that was only the install price for a free water heater. When they drained the old water heater, the used a decorative towel from our bathroom and left it in the bathtub wet and dirty. They left a quarter-size hole in our wall where I'm assuming they bumped into it with either the old or new water heater. Also, when they took the old water heater outside, the left it on our walkway by the front door leaving a rust stain that I have to be able to remove. I think the actual plumbing work was ok, but it's everything else that makes it so I will never use them again. Jon Wayne to the rescue!

Chambliss Plumbing was amazing for us. Ask anyone. They saved us when another company, Kore Plumbing, installed a defective sewer line, without a permit, twice. Chambliss came, videoed the lines (sewer lines were botched), and successfully made repairs. Chambliss also fixed the other code violations--all of which, by the way, the Alamo Heights city inspector overlooked--like the use of AC lines for water heater drains, lack of shutoff valves, loose supply lines, and other installations in non-compliance with installation guidelines. Chambliss was responsive, and cared! I learned from one of their plumbers that Chambliss pays for their plumbers to get extra education and certification, and are really part of "the solution." Cheap? No. Cultivating pride and integrity in their workers, fostering their education, and doing work with right way? Priceless.
Had an issue of no hot water and Chambliss replaced the water heater several years ago. Upon calling, was informed that the water heater was still under warranty and set up a time. They were very prompt and sent someone out right away. Once there, the plumber said that since it was still under warranty, he can go ahead and replace it, under warranty, for $1500. That is $500 more than a new one without warranty, so I had my concerns. It ended up being the lower heating element, which he replaced for $190. I asked about the upper and he said he didn't replace because it's the lower one that goes bad. OK, makes sense. The plumber had told me three different things before the repair, so I asked what it ended up being. I just wanted an explanation of repairs and was told it would be on the invoice, which was emailed to my husband's email. Once I saw the invoice, it stated that he replaced both. I contacted Chambliss to clarify and also told him my concerns about the guy he sent out. The owner said that he was not one of his regular customer service workers, which was obvious. It was in the afternoon so Mr Chambliss said he will talk to his guy the next day, see about a discount and call me back. I told him that I'm not looking for a discount and if that is what the job pays, then I'm OK with it. I just want clarification on the repair because the plumber had told me three different issues in addition to trying to sell me a new water heater for way too much. He stated that he will clarify and call me back and confirmed he will call me back before hanging up. It has been a week and I never received that clarification or the call back. I really don't trust this company any more and want to share my experience just in case there are others out there.
