The best soul food I've EVER had. Food to die for. I only wish we could have a restaurant here in El Paso, half as great. Great large portions. Home atmosphere and very friendly staff. Military discount offered.
We came from Houston and visited this restaurant and it was well worth the drive. The food and atmosphere was excellent. It felt like you were with family and everyone was extremely nice. There are no words to describe how absolutely delicious the food was. Oh and I HIGHLY recommend the sweet tea.
I had the fried catfish, pretty good! The 7-Up pound cake and all the others are huge by the slice and very moist!! The staff is always in a good mood and provides great service even when it's super packed and busy. This food will put you slap to sleep!! AMAZING
We were really looking forward to eating at Mrs. Kitchen after reading all 247 reviews we thought it had to be good. Unfortunately this restaurant does not live up to it's 5, 4 or even 3 star reviews. The iced tea which is suppose to be amazing was far from good; it was instant powdered tea, not even fresh brewed. You can't be a southern kitchen or even a Texas kitchen and not be able to make a great glass of tea. The lemonade also powered, Country Time. We ordered the fried chicken, fried catfish, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, dirty, rice, and black eyed peas, with cornbread. The catfish was salty, the fried chicken was extremely disappointing, Bill-Miller definitely has much better tasting fried chicken which was a surprise. The baked chicken tasted old and had a perfume taste to it. The corn was canned and tasted like the can, the mashed potatoes had no flavor, y'all can probably make them better at home. The dirty rice was weird tasting, and the beans canned. The tarter sauce was from a Kraft bottle. They really like there prepackaged foods here, nothing was really fresh. The corn bread was definitely not good. It was also a little off-putting when you see one of the cooks leave the kitchen with his gloves on, enter the bathroom with his gloves on, and exit the bathroom and enter the kitchen with the same gloves on. Over all this restaurant was extremely disappointing, not what we were expecting at all considering the reviews, we will never return, the staff is not too friendly or welcoming.
Fried chicken is fresh and good!! I started eating before I could take pics
This was a life-changing dining experience! I can't wait to go back. Best fried catfish I've ever had. I also tried the fried chicken and meatloaf that my friends ordered, and oh dear lord. DELICIOUS. My other favorite part is that it lives inside a small, old house with an old southern feel, like you're dining in Marie Laveau's home in the late 1800s. Do yourself a favor and stop by this place!
