Rather than get upset, I called back. I didn't know she answered the phone, so I asked, "Hi, may I please be transferred to Sharon? She just got upset at me because she's having a bad day, or something, and I really need to get my things moved." When she said it was her, and started to get upset, I said, "Sharon, are you having a bad day? Are you okay? I'm happy to listen." There was a brief silence before she hung-up.
I called this morning and spoke with Robert. He was so wonderful, and so helpful, we set-up our date for this Friday. I told him I'd call back to confirm, because I had to ask my realtor if we'd have our keys by then.
After exchangingn pleasantries, Sharon, the owner, asked for the current address, and the address we'd be moving to. I gave that to her, and added that it was about twenty minutes north of San Marcos. She asked for miles, to which I replied, "Can't you look that up on your computer? I'm driving right now," to which she replied, "I need it to give you the estimate." I said okay, let me pull over. I pulled-over and calculated the distance, and gave that to her. She said she had to get off of the phone to crunch some numbers. I asked her which numbers she needed, since I just gave her everything, to which she replied, "Sir, I can already tell this isn't going to work out," then she hung-up on me.
To Sharon: If you see this, please know that I truly wanted to use your service, especially after speaking with Robert, and I was generally concerned with how you were feeling, because your shortness and disrespect came out of nowhere. You know what though, when it comes down to it, I just want to say:
All very professional and courteous workers and the office staff was awesome. The price for the move was right on budget as well.
After speaking with my realtor, I called-back at 11:30, and a lovely girl answered the phone. She asked if it was me, and said the owner was excited to speak with me. I felt so honored!
Having grown-up with my mother supporting me and my little brother, I have a soft spot for strong women owning small businesses, especially for single mothers, but I will never support this moving company, and I urge others to do the same. It starts at the top, and if the top is rotten I don't want anything to do with it.
For the sake of the people you employ, as well as your significant other, if you're lucky enough to have one with your attitude, please be less of a b**** and work on leaving your personal problems at the door, before you walk into your office.
