I absolutely LOVE all of the staff and especially Dr. Renee!! She is so caring and has taken good care of my son and daughter for years. They actually look forward to going to the dentist for check-ups and cleanings. I couldn't ask for a better dentist for my children.
This practice was referred to us by our Orthodontist and family dentist, as we live in a small town about an hour or so away that does not have any Pediatric Dentists.
Dr. Courtney and her team at Dominion Pediatric Dentistry have been fabulous! Every team member understands how to overcome fear of going to the dentist. Our experience as first timers began with my son very afraid of what was to come. As a parent you try to console them but nothing I could do was helping the situation and I began to get impatient. The team at Dominion Pediatric took over and immediately began a hands on technique of showing the instruments, explaining how they work in a way my child understood. What a relief! My child enjoys seeing his Dentist Dr. Courtney and her team along with visiting the other amenities such as the theater room and child play environment. It is very helpful to build a positive experience early on to promote healthy habits.
When it was his twin brother's turn, I went ahead and called to see if they could do it as I didn't have any other referrals and I was told on the phone first that they couldn't do it and felt I should go to an oral surgeon (the exact same procedure as with the previous twin) but then they said that if they did do it, that they would have to use laughing gas (as if that was something scary). Since that is what they used on the twin and it wasn't a big deal, I just decided that enough was enough.
My kids absolutely adore Dr. Renee! My kids love going to the dentist and I have this practice to thank for that!
We absolutely love Dominion Pediatric Dentistry and their staff! They are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable in all things dental. My 10 month old loved interacting with the staff and had no issues allowing them to perform a full cleaning on his two little teeth. I thought he would only allow them to brush his teeth since it was his first time, but he allowed them to polish them and even floss! Dr. Renee was wonderful and I would recommend her, as well as Dr. Courtney and Dr Susie to anyone. Dr Courtney and Dr. Susie have seen my three and four year old for their appointments and they were just as wonderful. The office is very calm for a pediatric office and we've never had to wait long. I couldn't imagine taking my little ones elsewhere.
Such a horrible experience - I believe that the Dominion Pediatric Dentistry staff and Dr. Hayden acted unethically and unprofessionally. Especially when they tried to strong-arm me and scare me into doing work that wasn't necessary.
I found the Dentists for Kids and had an absolutely incredible experience. It was like Night and Day.
Please do not take your child to Dr. Hayden or Dominion Pediatric Dentistry. I shudder to imagine how much unnecessary work they scare parents into doing.
First of all staff seemed short on phone and disinterested in person. Plus I got a different answer from different staff members on the same questions. Having a child's teeth extracted is stressful enough, but even more so when the situation is ambiguous. For example, I was told that if we arrived with panos, they wouldn't have to take them. I had them emailed in advance and they still took the xrays and charged me despite me insisting that they had been sent and we could easily get them sent again (and calling the orthodontists office for them at that moment). And then the first thing the Dr. Hayden questions is why my child is having his teeth extracted? That did not instill confidence. She also insisted on conducting a comprehensive exam (despite the fact that my child had a regular dentist and orthodontist and we were just there for teeth extractions) and took pics of every tooth and charged me - but again never told me up front that was part of their process. Dr. Hayden then told me that my son had several cavities and I felt like she tried to pressure/scare me into getting them taken care of along with the teeth extraction. Note, this dentist does not take my insurance and so a several hundred dollar procedure was now skyrocketing into 4 figures. AND after we sought a second opinion (as I was pretty panicked), I was told that my child absolutely DID NOT have any cavities. I also was put on edge by the baby talk and had no clue what some of the words she was using meant (they had to give me a list of their words with real words, I threw it away after but remember that a cavity is a sugar bug - but really, I have to have a translator/dictionary to understand what is going on?). But the ultimate final nail in the coffin was when I felt strong-armed into agreeing to more work than what I had come there to do when the assistant told me that I could sign approval for their recommended work and they would start my son on the laughing gas right away. When I said I wanted to review the financials and just select the teeth extraction, she told me that if I took the time to review the financials that they might not have time to do the teeth extraction. How unethical is that? Admittedly, they still extracted his teeth even though I did not agree to all of Dr. Hayden's STRONGLY suggested work (that turned out not to be necessary), but to imply that they wouldn't be able to do it at the same visit (and knowing I lived out of town) if I didn't agree to their work plan, is unethical and unprofessional.
