All around great hospital for many reasons. Above average looking staff that were very personable, caring and everything went smoothly with my surgery. Thank you Cumberland!
The admittance process was nice, quick and easy. Immediately taken to surgical floor and a short wait before called back. My first nurse was great, I wish I remembered her name. She was one of the best things about the hospital. Afterwards seemed to be a nightmare. I was awake and could hear everything, but waking up from the anesthesia, I had a difficult time keeping my eyes open because I felt exhausted. The nurse, a different nurse from the beginning, kept getting frustrated with me for not opening my eyes, and seemed as if I was inconveniencing her telling her I was in pain. She kept answering very condescending then having my mom assure me she was right, which she wasn't. After finally getting to the car and her mad that my ride took a stop at the bathroom, we got in the car and she was gone. I still wasn't awake from the anesthesia. I could hear everything going on and about 15+ minutes later, my mom received a call stating they forgot to take out my IV. Who does that? Lucky we were still in the parking lot. It was a very mixed experience, but the negative over rules the positive. I'd recommend to others but with much caution.
The spine epidermal was uncomfortable and painful because the Cumberland anesthesiologist failed to administer any sedation before the epidermal needle was inserted......unbelievably incompetent and uncaring. A week after the IV was inserted by a Cumberland nurse a large bruise is still very visible.....incredible and unacceptable. On a positive, the facility was very clean and the personnel were pleasant. This is my first and last visit to Cumberland Surgical Hospital.........Adious!
I had the best care from the nurses at this hospital. Very professional and caring.
Watch out for billing! Unethical to say the least. Hospital is great though so don't get sucked into that part. The billing dept forces you to pay a portion of your bill regardless of your deductible or leave. No one leaves after preparing for surgery (especially a kid) so you pay hoping they are rightful billers. Sadly, they are not. They have held $778 of which we owed $0 since January and are "backlogged" on payments. It's October and they continue to give us the runaround and suggest their corporate office is behind.
