The car was nice, roomy, well maintained, clean, and perfect for the trip. The wipers didn't do a great job though.
Alamo is not Inclusive to functional need clients. I will NEVER use Alamo again. The line was out the door for San Antonio Airport location which was no problem. The issue was National reps.next door kept hand picking people in line from the back and front instead of who was next. When we finally got to the counter I was provided my paper and sent to the lot, the rep could not tell me what car type I they had selected. I rented a car to hold a wheelchair with 4 in my party, but was told by the lot attendant either a subcompact(yeah right) or a truck(yeah right). The attendant said if I wanted to rent the car I had booked online I'd have to upgrade to premium, again upgrade to the car I had booked? I went to National and they got us in a car and out the door. Overall time spent 1.5 hours waiting just to be punished by Alamo for wanting the car I booked for a handicap passenger.
If you have to make a change to your reservation good luck! The number given on the website was handled by someone in some unknown country that was hard to understand and read from a script. She was zero help and told me to call the counter in San Antonio. This is no exaggeration. They advertise the counter to be open 24 hours. We called at 5:00 PM and let the phone ring for 20 minutes and no one ever picked up. Half way through we called simultaneously having both phones ring for the last 10 minutes!! They only reason they get 2 stars is the when we arrived the guy at the counter was super nice and helpful.
Great experience was ruined by fuel charge. I used the bypass the counter option so pickup was a breeze, simply picking a vehicle and stopping at the exit gate to provide information. Nissan Rogue was ell equipped and brand new. Upon returning the vehicle, I stopped at the last exit to fill up. I even clicked the fuel twice and overflowed it a bit to make sure it was full. I returned the vehicle during a very busy time and was old to go on and they would email a receipt. Unfortunately, I noticed today a charge for 2 gallons of gas. The needle read well above full when I left the car. I feel this was intentional and ruined an otherwise excellent experience.I will be calling to get the amount refunded.
I definitely will use Alamo again as I am in SA often.
The bus driver the morning of arrival was extremely helpful, helped lift the stroller in and with all the bags. Unfortunately, the driver the morning of departure seemed to hate his job and didn't bother to help or at least offer.
It was super easy to skip the counter (would have liked more than two cars to choose from). There were no signs saying all transactions would be done at the National booth. I had to squeeze between the Alamo booth and sidewalk to drive that way. Booth agent seemed unfamiliar with the Skip The Counter stuff, but got us on our way.
Great Service and Experience but cars are really not what we expect. I loved the way the self check in works at Alamo and also the easy of returning the car and all, but yes the only thing is the cars are really out dated. The full size cars and even the mid size are all old stocks and the interiors are not fresh as always. They need to maintain freshness of cars so the new drivers who gets it feel better.
