Car had a bad odor every time i got in it. Big fee for adding a second driver. Good customer service.
Car was clean and new, and DJ seemed accommodating. I attempted to return the car Sunday at 12:45 PM, which is 15 minutes prior to them closing and 1.5 hours prior to my reservation being due back.
Making sure to top the car off AGAIN at the Valero across the street, I returned the car at 2:00 PM, 30 minutes or so before it was due. I followed the instructions given to me, putting the keys in the night drop and figured everything would be handled on Monday. On Tuesday my card was charged double the original rental agreement amount.
At the time, the rate had jumped $20 and the lady working the counter explained to me that it was because I was returning the car a little early and that the system wasn't recognizing the "special" rate I had through hotwire. She asked me to just bring the car back around the same time I had rented and drop the keys and rental agreement into the night box drop. I decided to go grab a bite to eat real quick and return the car in about an hour.
Being a frequent renter from this location I hadn't experienced this problem with them before which is why they get 2 stars rather than 1. After seeing how it was mismanaged I get the feeling this isn't the first time this has happened. Because of this, I personally have no intentions of renting here again, and will recommend the same to anyone who does local rentals instead of airport locations.
I always rent from this location and have always been treated courteously and promptly. Price is always good and cars are always clean and well maintained.
Rented for this past Spring Break and the SUV we received was spot on! Low mileage with all the extras. Service and staff is very accommodating and do everything they can to deliver exactly what you want. Will be renting again soon, keep doing what you are doing!
Having followed up with him 3 additional times in the 3 weeks that followed, never once was the bill ever updated. Instead, I received excuse after excuse on why it had not been changed yet, and assurance from DJ that he would contact me as soon as he had the charge adjusted. After no change or response from DJ, I decided to contact avis customer service. After a bit of explaining and some finesse I was able to convince them to deduct $50 from the charge which made my balance still more than the initial agreement.
This is my second experience with Avis. Loved the service and the vehicle was just what we asked for, very clean and up to date! I will plan another rental with Avis very soon.
I immediately followed up with DJ at the location and explained to him what happened. He said that he checked security footage and didn't see me return the car at the time I stated, and then also decided I didn't fill the tank up without checking the gas guage. I told him to look again and to talk to his Sunday employee to verify my story. He did, and then assured me everything would be fixed in a few days and that I would only be billed my original agreement amount.
